SEAL COAT FIELD INSPECTION & LAB DEMONSTRATION
February 27, 2020
8:00 am Breakfast
8:30 - 10:30 am Seminar
As more and more roads in California reach their terminal serviceability, it is becoming increasingly important to find ways that help extend pavement service life in the most cost-effective manner. Seal coats are a common, relatively low-cost surface rehabilitation technique that help improve the functional condition of pavement.
This in-depth seminar will provide guidance to QA/QC inspectors on the fundamentals of seal coat production, placement, inspection, and testing. This training will help attendees learn the various aspects of what is involved in seal coat operations and become familiar with key elements of seal coat inspection and testing duties including recognizing problems during a project and offering solutions. The seminar will be held in a Caltrans-certified material testing lab in San Diego and will include a live demonstration of materials tests commonly required on seal coat projects. The training is not intended to cover every aspect of seal coat construction but will be useful to any professional working on a seal coat project.
